Xigera Camp (pronounced Keejera) is a luxury tented camp situated in the Moremi Game Reserve in the heart of the Okavango Delta.
Xigera has something for everyone, in an area where there are no other Moremi camps and where permanent water all year round allows one to enjoy a variety of activities.
Enjoy a true Delta experience while you sit back in a mokoro (dug-out canoe) and silently glide through the tranquil Okavango waterways or watch the sunset. |
| Nestled in a magnificent riverine forest, Xigera comprises of 10 luxuriously furnished tented rooms with en-suite facilities and outdoor shower.
Each room is raised off the ground on a wooden deck offering superb views of the seasonal floodplain and waterhole.
Meals and drinks are enjoyed under the thatch of the raised lounge, pub and dining area overlooking a permanently flowing channel. A traditional boma offers alternative dining under the African stars.

Birding in the area is excellent, with Pels Fishing Owl, Slaty Egret, Wattled Crane, African Skimmers and a host of eagles, vultures, raptors and kingfishers to be found. The area has the highest density of the rare Sitatunga antelope found anywhere in the Okavango Delta.

GAME VIEWING
Lion and Leopard are often seen from the camp crossing the bridge. Lechwe, Sitatunga, Buffalo, Hippo are seen often from mokoro and on walks. Plains game is good and Bushbucks are a feature. There is an abundance of birds – a special being Pels Fishing Owl.
ACTIVITIES
Type: Summer 40% Game drives, 60% Water activities
Winter 20% Game drives, 80% Water activities (whilst the emphasis at Xigera is on water activities, game drives are offered all year round).
No night drives until the Moremi Wildlife Reserve rules change
Game drives via 3 x 10 seater open Land Rovers each accommodating a maximum of seven guests, allowing all guests an outside seat.
The camp does have a supply of bean bags for guests to use to steady their camera while on a game activity.
Walking safaris on request
Water game viewing via mokoro and by foot (eight mokoro with each seating two guests)
Power boating seasonally available depending on water levels (1 x 8 seater boat)
