The Okavango Delta has
been described as one of the most beautiful places in Africa
- a pristine wilderness area of magnificent palm islands,
golden channels and waterways filled with an exception array
of wildlife.
Interact with rural village craftsmen, explore the
beautiful Okavango Delta, and experience superlative wildlife
sightings, before marveling at the magnificent Victoria Falls.
DAY 1
We fly from Maun in a light aircraft to Tsodilo Hills, a
beautiful region much revered by the ancient San (Bushmen)
tribe. They believed this area to be sacred and as a result,
made thousands of highly significant rock paintings and engravings.
We spend the day exploring these and overnight at a campsite
nearby.
DAY 2
During the next day we continue our exploration of Tsodilo
Hills on foot. We also visit a local San village and see how
this tribe continues to live life according to ancient customs
and traditions. We spend the night in a private campsite.
DAY 3
Our following day is similarly taken up with interactions
with traditional peoples, cultures and ways of life. We visit
Etsha villages where we see basket weaving and carving crafts
and interact with traditional blacksmiths and farmers. We
spend the night at a private campsite.
DAY 4
We travel along a scenic road over Lake Ngami, which is situated
just west of the Okavango Delta. We enjoy some sightseeing
and game-viewing before moving on to Maun, where we spend
the night at Motsentela Lodge.
DAY 5 & 6
From Maun we travel via light aircraft into the Okavango
Delta. This breathtaking region of champagne-coloured channels,
exquisite islands and exciting wildlife is yours for two days.
We explore waterways by mokoro (canoe) and islands on game-viewing
walks. Two overnights are spent camping on a private concession.
DAY 7 & 8
The next day we travel via light aircraft to Khwai, in the
north-eastern Okavango. This region is game-rich in a variety
of animal and bird species - like the endangered African wild
dog and the rare sitatunga - and we make the most of them
on extensive game-viewing drives. Camping is in the Moremi
Wildlife Reserve.
DAY 9
From the Okavango Delta, we travel towards the Chobe National
Park, another one of Africa's prime game-viewing destinations
and into the Savuti Channel. We go on game-drives to see lion
and the other predators for which this region is well-known.
We spend the night camping next to the Savute Channel.
DAY 10 & 11
We spend the following two days in northern Chobe, going
on extensive game-drives and seeing as much of the famous
wildlife as Specials. This will include the huge elephant
herds around the Chobe River. We spend the nights camping
in the Serondela area of Chobe National Park.
DAY 12
From Chobe it is but a short drive to the world-famous waterfall
and World Heritage Site of Victoria Falls. We spend the rest
of the day here, enjoying the varied activities and adventures
at the falls. We overnight at the Kingdom Hotel, on bed and
breakfast basis.
DAY 13
The safari ends in Victoria Falls after breakfast.
From Johannesburg you have the choice to travel onto
